Tisdagens stora nyhet var att The Document Foundation bildas av ledande medlemmar i OpenOffice projektet. Initiativet stöttas av Google, Novell, Red Hat, Free Software Foundation, OSI, OASIS, Canonical mfl tunga aktörer och syftar till att säkerställa en fortsatt oberoende utveckling av OpenOffice. Den nya ”forkade” programsviten kallas LibreOffice.
